Today's post is a little different than what I usually post. I recently finished a book titled "A Woman After God's Own Heart" by Elizabeth George. To be honest it was quite brutal to my flesh. I tried to read this book years ago but could not even swallow its contents a little bit. God knew I wasn't ready to hear what it had to say concerning what it is to be a Godly wife after all, don't we always feel justified in our hurts? Everyone has hurt, we live in a fallen world, and when you are married you are dealing with two very different people becoming one flesh along with all the baggage and dysfunction we bring into the marriage. Neither one of us are perfect but we both love God with all our hearts and that is what has kept us together going on twenty-four years. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. God often pairs you with your opposite I have come to find out in most cases, to bring the best out of each other. There are those rare marriages that have more similarities than opposites though. Hopefully, you learn how to work together for the glory of God and not dominate your spouse or always make sure to get your way, but learn to serve each other in love, tenderheartedly, and affectionately not harsh with your words. If you are a believer in Jesus and a newly married woman or a seasoned married woman, I encourage you to read this book. It's not easy but it is rewarding. You just may learn a thing or two (said in my most southern drawl). If you don't have time to read I suggest an audiobook to listen to while you are in the car, doing housework, or exercising. Happy reading!
